About the Research Programme

The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) whereby the latter Institute is providing legal research and technical assistance to the DEA in the areas with regard to various aspects of the Indian and foreign financial markets, policy analysis or formulation which includes conducting of regulatory impact assessment of different types of actions/ initiatives taken by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

The DEA-NIFM Research Programme also provides support to DEA in examining the rules and regulations prescribed for domestic credit agencies and in related fields of Securities Contracts (Regulations) Act, 1956, Depositories Act, 1996, Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, Foreign Portfolio Investment, External Commercial Borrowings, Depository Receipts, Currency Markets, Primary Markets Issuances, Mutual Funds, Alternative Investment Funds, Corporate Bond Markets, Financial Literacy, Takeover Code Regulations and all other SEBI’s regulations under SEBI Act, 1992.

NIFM, at its Faridabad campus has created one of the best academic resources and finance laboratory to facilitate online research. The members of the research programme have the direct access to various online libraries, domestic as well as global database resources including Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Prowess, various Journals, Magazines, Newspapers and Periodicals etc. besides the library of NIFM.
