A K Sharan
M.A. (Eco), Ph.D. (Business Economics)
Dr. Sharan is Professor (Economics) at NIFM. He is an ex-banker (specialist economist, Bank of India, Planning Division, Corporate Head Office, Mumbai, India) and ex-faculty (Department of Business and Industrial Management, South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat, India) He holds a Ph.D. Degree in Business Economics. He holds and a Master’s Degree in Economics (VIII Position, University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India) with specialization in International Economics and Monetary Economics. Dr. Sharan has work experience spanning over 22 years with stints in Ministry of Planning, Department of Statistics (NSSO-FOD), and Ministry of Industry, Department of Industrial Development (SISI), and G B Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad, an ICSSR Sponsored Institute, South Gujarat University, Surat, and Bank of India, Mumbai.
Dr Sharan has to his credit around 15 papers and articles published in various journals and magazines published in India. He has organized a Workshop with British Council (India) on KAP Study on Malaria Control, and has associated with various research projects sponsored by Ministry of HRD (Operation Blackboard), Ministry of Health (Malaria Control).
Dr. Sharan has also associated with consultancy projects for Ministry of Finance (Utilization of Equalization Grants), Ministry of Corporate Affairs (Streamlining RoC and OL Operations and Organization), National Backward Class Finance and Development Corporation (Corporate Plan for Funding the State Channelizing Agencies). In the year 1999-2000 Dr. Sharan was co-opted by the High-Powered Committee on Zero Base Budget for Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC)); Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO); National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC); and the Coir Board (CB) of India, Corporation. Dr. Sharan has presented papers in international conferences and seminars, besides holding Session Chair. Dr. Sharan has been Editor, “Economic Currents” (Allahabad University), Managing Editor “Modern Management” (South Gujarat University) and Chief Editor “NIFM Journal of “Public Financial Management” (National Institute of Financial Management). He has been Editor for papers to be presented in international conference in U.K. Dr. Sharan has been Coordinator, M.B.A. Program (Evening Three Years) at Department of Business and Industrial Management, South Gujarat University, Surat, besides being Founder Coordinator of the PGDM Program and MBA Program at NIFM. He also has been Founder Hon’ Librarian at NIFM.
Dr Sharan has been resource person / expert to the South Gujarat University, Surat (Ph.D. and Paper Setting); All India Management Association, New Delhi (Faculty for Ph.D. Program and Paper Setting); Punjab National Bank Staff College (Middle Management Officers’ Training); LAL Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussorrie, for training for Civil Servants, besides other AICTE Approved institution at Faridabad and in Delhi. Dr. Sharan has also been a training consultant to Ministry of Finance and Planning, Government of Sri Lanka in the areas of Fiscal Reforms Management Program. He has got over 300 officers of the Government of Sri Lanka Trained in the above mentioned areas at NIFM. He also has conducted programs for Asian development Bank, and has got over 60 officers trained at NIFM. Dr Sharan as also coordinated International training Programs (under TCS of Colombo Plan). He was also a member of NIFM’s consulting team to Royal Government of Bhutan. Dr. Sharan has organized special training programs in the areas of Standard Rules and Procedures for World Bank Procurement in WB funded Projects. Such programs he organizes twice in a year since 2006 for officers of State Governments in India. Dr Sharan has further coordinated similar specialized programs exclusively for officers sponsored by Ministry of Labour and Employment. Dr. Sharan has coordinated special training program for serving officer from Indian Economic Service. In the areas of Banking Dr. Sharan has organized Executive Development Program for Chief Managers of Public Sector Banks (with assistance of IMF-India office). Dr. Sharan has assisted NIFM in effecting MoUs with Royal Institute of Public Administration (International) RIPA, and Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Philippines. He has visited countries abroad including Republic of Slovenia, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Philippines, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
